A suspected thief, Thankgod, has been apprehended, brutalized and tied up with a rope in Calabar, Cross River.

Facebook user, Sly Silva said the incident happened at Army estate, 8miles on Thursday, August 17, 2023.

According to Silva, the suspect earlier stole a generator set.

She claimed Thankgod returned to the area and stole a water metre but he ran out of luck.

The suspect hails from Ekori community in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River state.

And no one knew who the victims were – until now. The 32 black-and-white snapshots were like frames from a disturbing home movie —  four men marched to the gallows and hanged one by one. There’s a large crowd of onlookers present. Many are in military uniforms. Two priests accompany the condemned and raise crucifixes for them to kiss moments before execution. The scene is the stone courtyard of a big brick building where people are looking out glass-less windows and thronging the rooftop. Many bystanders have cameras. It is the largest case of government-sponsored human trafficking and sexual slavery in modern history. Many scholars have argued that the term comfort women, a euphemism coined by the Japanese military, obscures the gravity of the crime.
